Food Pantry Assistance

Opportunity Description: Catholic Charities Health & Nutrition staff love involving community members in serving our neighbors at the Catholic Charities Food Pantry in Jefferson City, MO. During pantry hours, duties include greeting neighbors, assisting with registration/orientation, providing shopping assistance, scanning and bagging items at check-out, fulfilling online orders, and re-shelving items. Outside of pantry hours, duties may include receiving and sorting donations, stocking shelves, breaking down boxes, general cleaning/tidying, and other duties as assigned. While accommodations can be offered, the ability to stand, bend, reach, and lift (25 lbs.) is requested.    

 

Time Commitment: The Food Pantry is open for service Monday and Wednesday from 4-7pm and Friday and Saturday from 10am-1pm. Generally, Food Pantry shifts will cover the 3-hour time frame that the pantry is open, along with time for opening and closing tasks. Stocking shifts are scheduled periodically throughout the week and will typically cover a 2-hour time frame. You are welcome to sign up as frequently as you like. We do ask that once you are signed up, please honor that commitment. If you are unable to work a scheduled shift, please call to let us know.

 

Position Requirements: Volunteers must be 14+ or accompanied by a parent/guardian. All volunteers must be Safe Environment/VIRTUS compliant through the Diocese of Jefferson City in order to register for a service opportunity.

Additional information: Parking spots near the main entrance should be kept open for visitors to the buildings; park in designated areas. Enter through the main entrance at the front of the building and check in at the Welcome Center. We will be ready to welcome you on your first day and provide a brief orientation.
