Opportunity Name:
Senior Food Box Support

Description:

Opportunity Description: Catholic Charities Health & Nutrition staff love involving community members in placing reminder phone calls and/or delivering/distributing Senior Food Boxes to eligible residents in Cole and Howard Counties. Who is eligible? Seniors (60+) who reside in Cole County and Howard County and meet income eligibility guidelines for the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) are eligible for these monthly supplemental food boxes. Volunteers placing reminder phone will contact clients to remind them of their scheduled Senior Food Box delivery and relay pertinent information to CCCNMO staff. These shifts can be completed onsite or from a remote location. Call lists will be made available by 10 AM on the day of the scheduled shift and calls should be completed no later than 3 PM to allow adequate time for Senior Food Box preparation the following day, but call times are flexible within those hours. Volunteers delivering and/or distributing Senior Food Boxes will use Catholic Charities Food Pantry as the pick-up location and will coordinate with the Health & Nutrition team regarding delivery/distribution details.

Time Commitment: Typically, reminder phone call shifts can be completed within 1 hour. Delivery/distribution shifts vary based on routes and number of recipients but can typically be completed in a 1-2 hour time frame. You are welcome to sign up as frequently as you like. We do ask that once you are signed up, please honor that commitment. If you are unable to work a scheduled shift, please call to let us know. If your schedules requires a different delivery/distribution time, please give us as much advance notice as possible so that recipients can be informed of this when reminder calls are placed.

Position Requirements: Volunteers must be 14+ or accompanied by a parent/guardian. All volunteers must be Safe Environment/VIRTUS compliant through the Diocese of Jefferson City in order to register for a service opportunity. Anyone driving on behalf of Catholic Charities must be 18+ and in compliance with the CCCNMO Driving Policy (which includes submitting driver's license and proof of car insurance).

Point of Contact: Lori Stoll, lstoll@cccnmo.org, (573) 540-1125
